Many players flog themselves if a plan doesn’t work out; if they run out of position, if they don’t make the safety, if they get a good position with luck. Then they curse and vindicate and summon fate. “I’m such an idiot”, “I can’t feel the table”,”my opponent plays too slow”,”I suck at draw shots” etc….

Playing pool like a GPS navigation system

The whiners should take an example of navigation systems. What do they say if you turn too early or go in the wrong direction? “We’ll never make it”, “you idiot”, “we’ll have to drive all the way back”, “the other drivers will probably think we can’t do it…”? Not at all. The system says,”The route will be recalculated.” It’s that simple. The navigation system is looking for a new path, starting from the position where we are now. No complaining, no nagging, no ragging. Just make a new plan and keep going confidently. That’s how we should play pool.
